Step-by-step winter trek itinerary — includes snowy trails, campsite stops, and the final push to a panoramic summit point.

DAY 0 - Delhi to Dehradun (250 km / 6–7 hours)

  • Your Bighorn Adventure begins with an overnight journey from Delhi to Dehradun (250 km / 6–7 hours) by AC Volvo or Traveller tempo.
  • Meet the Bighorn India Team, connect with fellow trekkers, and enjoy a night filled with music, chatter, and excitement. This ride marks the beginning of your adventure to the snow-covered trails of Kedarkantha (3,800 meters / 12,500 feet).
  • DAY 1 - Dehradun to Sankri – Scenic Drive (200 km/8 -10 hours)

    • All trekkers meet at Dehradun early morning, and the Bighorn India Team begins the 8–10 hour journey to Sankri (200 km) as part of the Kedarkantha trekking package. Pick-up is scheduled between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM (those who chosse the dheradun pickup)
    • Enjoy a stunning drive through Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, and quaint Himalayan villages. The route offers breathtaking views of deep valleys, dense forests, and charming hillscapes.
    • On arrival at Sankri (1,950 meters / 6,400 feet), check in to our guesthouse for a warm dinner and overnight stay. Spend the evening acclimatizing and relaxing with your Bighorn India Adventure team before the trek begins.

    Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab – First Day Trek (3-4km, 3-4 Hours | 9100 ft)

    • Start your first trekking day with a breakfast in Sankri (1,950 meters / 6,400 feet).
    • Start the steep 4–5 km trek to Juda Ka Talab, located at 2,774 meters / 9,100 feet.
    • Trail begins through dense pine and maple forests, painted in shades of golden leaves.
    • Cross wooden bridges, narrow forest trails, and traditional grazing fields.
    • Witness rural Himalayan life locals carrying firewood, herding cattle in remote villages.
    • Possible wildlife sightings: Himalayan langurs, wild hares, boars, and martens.
    • Hear the soothing sounds of streams, rustling leaves, and fresh mountain winds.
    • Arrive at Juda Ka Talab, a frozen lake in winter, with a natural water tunnel feeding nearby communities.
    • Camp overnight beside the lake with the Bighorn India team, play games surrounded by peaceful alpine beauty.

    Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp (3-4km/3-4hours)

    • Wake up to crisp mountain air and enjoy a warm breakfast at Juda Ka Talab (2,774 meters / 9,100 feet).
    • Begin your 3.5–4 km uphill trek to Kedarkantha Base Camp located at 3,400 meters / 11,150 feet.
    • Trek duration: 3–4 hours through changing terrain and increasing altitude.
    • The trail offers a gradual but steady climb, passing through dense pine forests, open meadows, and snow patches in winter.
    • Enjoy breathtaking views of towering Himalayan peaks including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak along the way.
    • Spot remote shepherd huts, wildflowers, and more of the Garhwal region’s diverse wildlife.
    • Stop for photo breaks and hydration as the oxygen levels begin to dip slightly with elevation.
    • Reach the base camp, nestled in an open meadow with panoramic views of snow-clad ridges.
    • Have lunch and rest at camp while soaking in the sunset over the white peaks in winter a highlight of the Bighorn India Adventure.
    • Dinner and overnight stay in tents, preparing for the summit push the next day with Bighorn India Team

    Day 4: Summit Day – Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Peak (3,810 m) to Hargaon Camp

    • Early morning wake-up call around 2:30–3:00 AM — the most awaited day of the Bighorn Adventure.
    • Begin the summit trek under a starlit sky, with torches/headlamps lighting your path.
    • Steep 3.5–4 km climb to Kedarkantha Peak (3,810 meters / 12,500 feet).
    • Trek duration: 3–5 hours depending on snow and trail conditions.
    • Watch the first light of dawn break over the snow-covered Himalayas – surreal and unforgettable.
    • At the summit, soak in 360° views of majestic peaks like Swargarohini, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Bandarpoonch, and Kalanag.
    • Capture the perfect summit shots with the trident (Trishul) planted atop the peak – a Bighorn India signature moment.
    • After spending 20–30 mins at the summit, descend back to base camp for brunch and rest.
    • Resume trek downhill for about 3 km to Hargaon Camp (2,713 meters / 8,900 feet) – 2–3 hours.
    • Reach Hargaon by late afternoon. Enjoy the final bonfire, group games, or storytelling session with the Bighorn trek team
    • Dinner and overnight stay in tents under the stars.

    Day 5: Hargaon Camp to Sankri (1,920 m) | Return Journey to Dehradun/Delhi

    • Wake up early to the chirping of birds and the last Himalayan sunrise of your trek.
    • Enjoy a warm breakfast at Hargaon Camp.
    • Steep 3.5–4 km climb to Kedarkantha Peak (3,810 meters / 12,500 feet).
    • Begin your final descent – approx. 6 km trek to Sankri, taking around 2–3 hours.
    • Trail descends through dense pine forests, serene clearings, and traditional Himalayan huts.
    • Reach Sankri by late morning.
    • Freshen up and change into comfy clothes at the base guest house.
    • Say goodbye to your trek leaders, guides, and fellow trekkers – photos, hugs, and memories.
    • Depart from Sankri in a pre-arranged vehicle toward Dehradun (approx. 8–9 hours drive).
    • Option to continue onward to Delhi via overnight journey or stay in Dehradun.
