Overview

The Brahmatal Trek is regarded as one of the best winter treks in Uttarakhand, nestled in the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalayas. This trek offers an unforgettable blend of panoramic mountain views, thrilling snow-covered trails, and untouched natural beauty.
The trail meanders through serene forests, quaint Himalayan villages, and tranquil snowscapes, making it an ideal trek for both beginners and seasoned trekkers. With most of the trail passing through forest cover, the risk of altitude sickness is significantly reduced — yet it delivers the magical experience of a true winter Himalayan adventure.

Itinerary

A snowy adventure structured day by day — featuring forest walks, frozen lakes, and a high-view summit ideal for winter trekking.

DAY 0 - Overnight Journey – Delhi to Rishikesh (240 km / 6–7 hrs)

  • Assemble at the designated boarding point in Delhi by evening (around 9–10 PM).

  • Meet your trek mates and Bighorn India team — intros, briefing, and cheerful vibes.

  • Begin your overnight journey to Rishikesh in a comfortable tempo traveler or bus.

  • Carry your essentials — power bank, light snacks, water bottle, neck pillow, etc.

  • The drive winds through NH 58, passing towns lit up at night.

  • Overnight travel filled with music, laughter, and excitement for the trek ahead.

  • Reach Rishikesh early morning (Day 1) for a fresh start and onward journey to Lohajung.

DAY 1 -Rishikesh to Lohajung (260 km | 10–11 hrs | 7,600 ft)

  • Start your day by the peaceful Ganga ghats of Rishikesh.

  • Board the traveller with your Bighorn India team your journey into the Himalayas begins!

  • Scenic drive through the heart of Garhwal — Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karanprayag – witness sacred river confluences.

  • Engage in fun games, travel stories, and team bonding moments along the way.

  • Enjoy tea/snack halts at quaint hill-side dhabas.

  • Reach Lohajung by evening, a picturesque village perched on a mountain ridge.

  • Warm welcome by Bighorn India’s local crew – settle in your homestay/guesthouse.

  • Evening briefing by trek leaders – safety protocols, gear check & the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal (6 km | 4–5 hours | 9,700 ft)

  • Wake up to a mountain morning and gear up after breakfast.

  • Meet your Bighorn India trek leader for a quick briefing and warm-up.

  • Begin your adventure through oak and rhododendron forests, catching glimpses of Nandaghunti Peak.

  • Cross crystal-clear streams, old bridges, and forest trails filled with bird calls.

  • Reach Bekaltal Lake, surrounded by alpine trees – your campsite for the night.

  • Hot lunch and evening soup served fresh by the Bighorn kitchen team.

  • Enjoy your first night under the stars – with stories, fun games, and warmth around the campfire.

Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal Base Camp (via Telandi Meadows) 7 km |5–6 hours|10,440 ft )

  • After a hearty breakfast served by the Bighorn India campsite crew, gear up for the most scenic part of your journey.

  • Begin your ascent through frosted forest trails, and soon emerge into the wide-open Telandi Meadows, often blanketed in snow during winter and golden grass in autumn.

  • Take a breather and soak in the 360° views — Mt. Trishul, Nandaghunti, and Maiktoli will leave you awestruck.

  • Spot snowy ridges and distant valleys while our Bighorn trek leaders ensure the trail is safe and fun.

  • Reach the Brahmatal Base Camp, nestled beside snowfields with pine trees lining the edge of the world.

  • Warm lunch awaits, followed by relaxed evening games, music, and shared stories with the Bighorn India adventure team.
  • Night under the stars, zipped in tents, excited for the summit push tomorrow!
  • Tip: Keep your camera ready – this is where the Himalayas truly start to roar.

Day 4: Summit Day Brahmatal Base Camp to Brahmatal Summit → Daldum (12,250 ft (Summit) |7.5 km | 7–8 hours )

  • The Summit Day is here!

  • Wake up before sunrise. Hot tea and light breakfast to fuel you for the most awaited climb.

  • Begin your trek under the glow of headlamps as the trail winds upward to Brahmatal Summit – a snow-covered ridge that opens into pure Himalayan magic.
  • The summit rewards your effort with breathtaking views of Mt. Trishul, Nandaghunti, Kamet, Chaukhamba, and on a clear day – even glimpses of Mt. Neelkanth and Pangarchulla!
  • Capture the surreal frozen Brahmatal Lake on the descent – shimmering in silence, nestled between ancient trees and legend.
  • After some high-altitude group clicks and a victory cheer, Post-lunch, pack up and continue the descent through misty woods to reach Daldum Campsite.
  • Relax your legs, sip on some herbal tea, and enjoy the last night of this magical Himalayan journey around a warm bonfire with the Bighorn India

Day 5: Descend to Lohajung & Drive Back to Rishikesh

  • Start your day with the final descent from the Brahmatal base camp to Lohajung, trekking through alpine forests and meadows one last time.

  • Reach Lohajung by late morning, freshen up and grab a warm meal.
  • Before heading back, take a heartfelt detour, visit a local village school in Lohajung.
  • Distribute gifts and learning materials to the schoolchildren, bringing smiles and sharing joy with the young hearts of the Himalayas.
  • Engage in a short interactive session or fun activity with the students — a moment that stays with you longer than any mountain peak.
  • Wrap up this beautiful village experience, say your goodbyes to the locals, and board your vehicle back to Rishikesh.
  • Enjoy the scenic 9–10 hour drive, filled with laughter, reflection, and conversations about everything you’ve just experienced.
  • Arrive in Rishikesh late at night, carrying not just memories of the snow-covered trails, but also the warmth of human connection.

  • 90% refund if cancelled 30 days before the trek
  • 70% refund if cancelled 15–29 days before the trek
  • 50% refund if cancelled 7–14 days before the trek
  • No refund if cancelled within 7 days of trek start date
