Overview
The Dayara Bugyal Trek is a treasure in the Garhwal Himalayas, suitable for beginners
and seasoned trekkers alike. Spanning over six days, the trek takes you through pine
forests, highland meadows, and serene campsites before rewarding you with breathtaking
views from Dayara Top at 11,873 ft.
Raithal, the trek’s base village, sets the tone with its warm hospitality and views of
mountain ranges. From here, each day builds the excitement — from forested trails to the
expansive bugyal (meadow) and finally the summit at Dayara Top. With short trekking days
and gradual altitude gain, this trek is physically manageable yet visually stunning.

DAY 0 - Delhi to Dehradun (250 km / 6–7 hours)

Delhi to Dehradun
(250 km / 6–7 hours) by AC Volvo or Tempo Traveller.

the start of
your adventure toward the snow-clad trails of Dayara Bugyal (11,950
ft).
DAY 1 - Drive from Dehradun to Raithal (Base Village) (180 km | 7–8 Hours |
7,400 ft)
- Begin your winter adventure with Bighorn India as we depart early
from Dehradun (640 m).
- Scenic drive through Uttarkashi, tracing the majestic Bhagirathi
River, soaking in panoramic Himalayan views.
- Travel approx. 180 km over 7–8 hours, gaining altitude gradually to
Raithal village (7,400 ft) – the starting point of your Dayara
Bugyal trek.
By late afternoon, you'll reach Raithal, a serene mountain village
and the base camp for the Dayara Bugyal trek.
- Warm welcome by the Bighorn India trekking team and check-in at a
cozy homestay/guesthouse.
- Raithal offers magnificent views of mountain ranges like Shrikhand
Mahadev and Draupadi Ka Danda, a perfect spot to unwind and
acclimatize.
- Evening team briefing, acclimatization walk, and preparation for the
upcoming trekking days.
- Experience the spirit of community-based tourism and adventure with
the locals and your fellow trekkers.
- Overnight stay in Raithal.
Day 2: Trek from Raithal to Gui Campsite – 4.5 km | 4–5 Hours | 9,185 ft
(2,800 m)
- Rise early in Raithal (7,400 ft) and fuel up with a hearty breakfast
before the trek begins.
- Start your Day 2 adventure with Bighorn India’s expert trekking
team, as we head toward the Gui campsite, nestled at 2,800 meters
(9,185 ft).
- Trekking distance: Approx. 4.5 km over 4–5 hours, at a comfortable
pace suitable for beginners and winter trekkers.
- Trail passes through enchanting snow-laden oak, maple, and
rhododendron forests, making it a perfect introduction to Himalayan
winter trekking.
- Spot fresh snow trails, birdlife, and possibly animal footprints a
true eco-adventure experience.
- Reach Gui, a serene high-altitude meadow with breathtaking views of
Mt. Shrikanth, Mt. Jaonli, and Bandarpoonch massif.
- Pitch tents with help from our adventure crew and relax around a
campfire under a star-filled sky, far from city lights.
- Hot dinner served in the dining tent. Warm sleeping bags and cozy
tents provided by the Bighorn India team ensure a comfortable night.
Day 3: Trek to Dayara Bugyal (3,650m) and Return to Gui
- The most awaited and visually stunning segment of the Dayara Bugyal
Winter Trek with Bighorn India Adventure Team begins today.
- Start early from Gui and ascend gradually through snow-laden pine
and oak forests to reach Dayara Bugyal – one of India’s most
spectacular high-altitude meadows at 3,650 meters.
- This winter wonderland opens up to panoramic views of majestic
Himalayan peaks such as Bandarpoonch (6,316m), Kala Nag (Black
Peak), Srikanth, and Draupadi Ka Danda.
- While the snow adds a moderate challenge, the route is guided safely
by the Bighorn India team, ensuring a memorable and secure adventure
experience.
- After spending quality time exploring the Bugyal, descend back to
the Gui campsite.
- Evening bonfire, reflection on the trek, and stargazing with the
group. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 4: Trek from Gui to Raithal – Drive to Dehradun
- After an early breakfast at the Gui campsite, begin your descent
back to Raithal (2,180 meters).
- Trekking distance: 4 km, approx. 2–3 hours through dense oak and
rhododendron forests.
- This downward journey gives you one last chance to enjoy the
peaceful winter trails, snow-laden trees, and crisp mountain air of
the Dayara Bugyal winter trek.
- Reach Raithal by late morning.
- After a quick break and freshening up, begin your drive back to
Dehradun (approx. 180 km, 7–8 hours) with the Bighorn India
Adventure Team, taking in the scenic beauty of the Bhagirathi River
and Garhwal Himalayas on your return route.
- Arrive in Dehradun by evening, marking the end of a breathtaking
Himalayan adventure.
- Trip ends with unforgettable memories, photographs, and a heart full
of alpine snow and serene meadows.
Inclusion
- Accommodation: All essential camping gear, including tents, sleeping bags,
and mats, will be provided. Tents are usually shared among 3–4 trekkers.
- Meals: All meals during the trek (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening tea)
are included. The food served is simple, wholesome, and typically a mix of Indian
and continental dishes.
- Trekking Team: The package includes professional trek leaders, experienced
guides, and a support crew to ensure a safe and enjoyable trekking experience.
- Transport: Transportation from the starting point of the trek to the endpoint
is included in the package.
- First Aid: A basic medical kit will be available throughout the trek for
emergencies.
Exclusion
- Purchases: Items such as bottled water, energy drinks, snacks, and alcoholic
beverages are not included.
- Travel Insurance: Participants must arrange their own travel insurance; it is
not covered in the package.
- Medical Evacuation: In case of emergencies requiring evacuation (such as
helicopter rescue), the cost will be borne by the trekker.
- Gratuities: Tipping the trekking staff is optional and not included in the
package.
- Other Expenses: Any services or items not mentioned in the inclusions section
are excluded from the package.
Things To Carry
- Backpack: A sturdy and comfortable backpack to carry all your essentials.
- Clothing: Pack warm layers and waterproof gear such as thermals, fleece
jackets, gloves, and a woolen cap.
- Footwear: High-quality trekking shoes with a good grip, along with extra
pairs of socks.
- Hydration: Carry water bottles or a hydration bladder to stay hydrated
throughout the trek.
- Snacks: Bring lightweight dry snacks like energy bars, nuts, and dried fruits
for quick energy boosts.
- Medical Kit: A personal first-aid kit containing painkillers, bandages,
antiseptics, and any personal medications.
- Lighting: A headlamp or flashlight for use during the evenings or in
low-light conditions.
- ID Proof: A valid government-issued ID (such as Aadhaar Card or Driver’s
License) for verification purposes.
CONFIRMATION POLICY
- A booking confirmation voucher will be emailed within 24 hours of successful
booking.
- If your chosen date is unavailable, a new date as per your preference will be
offered, and a revised confirmation will be sent.
- You may cancel the booking before confirmation if rescheduling isn’t acceptable, and
a full refund will be processed.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- 45+ days before start: 25% of trek cost will be charged.
- 15–30 days before start: 50% of trek cost will be charged.
- 0–15 days before start: No refund; 100% cancellation charges apply.
- Weather/Government restrictions: In case of cancellations due to weather or
administrative orders, alternatives will be offered, but no cash refunds are
possible.
REFUND POLICY:
- If you opt for a refund after cancellation, the amount will be credited back to the
original payment method within 10–12 working days.
